Job Description :
The Cloud Compute team is driving the way technology services are hosted and delivered within Motorola Solutions by integrating public cloud services into the existing services framework. The Cloud Operations team, a subset of the compute team, provides daily support of Motorola’s AWS cloud environment.  The team ensures availability and performance of critical systems by monitoring and managing resources, troubleshooting issues, addressing security vulnerabilities, performing capacity planning analysis, and optimizing the cost of the environment.  The team is tasked with providing world class support for end users and transforming the way that we do business by leveraging new tools and automation.
 
 
This position will work collaboratively with Cloud Automation and other Operations teams and be responsible for -
  • Managing the day-to-day operations of Windows Server workloads in Motorola’s AWS environment by monitoring system performance, configuration and maintenance.
  • Providing daily support for Citrix Xenapp 4.5 and 6.5 environments including Web Interface and Netscalar infrastructure.
  • Respond to and resolve help desk requests, provide assistance after hours via 24/7 on-call rotation.
  • Performing troubleshooting as required for Windows and AWS infrastructure issues.  Lead problem solving efforts involving other support organizations or outside vendors.
  • Developing and enhancing processes and procedures leveraging scripting (powershell, vbscript etc) and cloud native automation features to enhance automation capabilities.
  • Collaborating with the larger Cloud Compute team and architects to develop and enhance standards of Cloud automation and support.
  • Providing capacity analysis and cost optimization recommendations for the environment.
  • Ensure high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical resources.
  • Ensuring that all systems comply with security patching and vulnerability recommendations, and that sufficient automation tools exist to ease administration overhead.
  • Evaluating and testing new tools for administration, training the team as needed.
  • Assist in developing automation standards for provisioning of Windows cloud based resources.
  • Providing guidance to Cloud Architects for projects that require Windows based solutioning.
  • Providing leadership in planning and implementation of projects for the operations team.
  • Upgrading systems and processes as required to enhance functionality and address security issues.
  • Maintaining the integrity of daily backups, verifying backup completion and data retention.
  • Staying current on latest technologies in Cloud and Windows spaces and make recommendations to take advantage of new features or technologies.
Basic Requirements :
  • 3-5 years of hands on Windows System administration experience
  • 2+ years of AWS experience
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and tools such as Service Now
  • Experience being in an on call rotation
  • Experience in developing administration scripts using Powershell, VBscript, WSH, AWS CLI
  • Experience with automation of OS patching for Windows
  • Experience supporting Citrix Xenapp environments including IIS and Netscalar
  • Experience troubleshooting issues with DNS, Network, Firewalls, Share and File Permissions, Application and Operating System functionality 
  • Experience with AWS services like EC2, ELB, S3, CloudFormation, Route 53
  • Experienced in working with teams using Agile methodologies like Scrum
  • Self-motivated team player who demonstrates initiative and flexibility.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
 
 
     Additional skills listed below a plus
  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator
  • MCSE or Citrix certification
  • VMWare ESXi experience
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
  • Experience in access control, user authentication, and service security
 
      Education/Experience:
  • BS degree in Computer Science and/or related field
