Department Description

The Global Procurement Organization provides the resources, processes, governance, systems and controls for acquiring goods and services efficiently, effectively and ethically from a diverse supply base that provides Motorola Solutions a competitive advantage on cost, quality, technology, service and delivery. The Systems and Indirect Procurement Organization is responsible for the acquisition of all Software, Hardware and Services both used internally by Motorola Solutions as well as those offered to our customers as part of product offerings and solutions.

Job Description
Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations:
Forming an integral part of a global procurement function you will help to develop and implement the strategic direction of a defined project to be tailored to the incoming intern, focusing on Business Support Service needs as they relate to the categories. Through proactively driving the entire supplier lifecycle, you will ensure a seamless supply of Business Support Services meeting the business requirements, underpinned by the awareness of risk.

Junior Position Related to this Internship – Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations:

• Assist in setting long term commercial strategic direction for Indirect Software categories.
• Influence business including, HR, Marketing, IT, Legal, Finance, Real Estate, Procurement, etc.
• Develop relationships with senior leadership.
• Support the development of a supply base that meets the changing indirect software needs.
• Assist in supplier negotiations, ensuring framework for a strategic contractual relationship with limited risk.
• Gain subject matter expertise on complex purchasing, technical, legal & contractual issues.
• Define governance around best practice and purchasing policy.
• Help to achieve category targets for cost reduction.
• Provide support to Category Managers in the implementation of Global Category Strategies.

Basic Requirements
• Fluent English, other languages would be an asset.
• In a University Degree Program, Engineering would be an asset.
• Strong desire to learn and work toward a career in Procurement.
• Computer savvy and ability to manage, analyze and present data in meaningful formats.
• General understanding on Software and Computing Science – not programming skills related.
• Strong interpersonal/communication and presentation skills with a passion for negotiating.
• Ability to work across geographies.
• Work at least 30 hours per week.
• Willingness to work on flexible hours.
• Business acumen and basic understanding of business financials.
• Comfortable with and able to quickly learn new business software applications/systems.
• Process driven!
