Intern - Material Sciences
Works with Manager, Engineer and the A & T staff of the carbide process to accomplish tasks assigned. Additionally, works with plant personnel to collect and analyze data to accomplish objectives, given from time to time. Develop ideas and methodologies to solve problems presented. Use design of experiments and analytical techniques in conducting projects. Work with other engineers and A & T staff in the Technology Center, other R & D locations and plants. Present data and reports in regularly organized meetings.
Kennametal Technology is seeking a summer intern at our Quentin C. McKenna Technology Center in Latrobe, PA to perform a detailed heat, material and energy balance on a key raw material stream. This project is ideal for a rising junior or senior chemist or chemical engineering major or someone who will start graduate school in the Fall. A successful candidate should be someone who understands HMB and is comfortable with inorganic chemistry. Most of the work will be performed in Latrobe, but short trips to locations in the Southeastern, U.S. will likely be needed to complete data collection.
