Currently for our site in Liverpool, UK we are looking for a:

Customer Service & Sales Representative

This is a new role working with existing customers to provide both customer service and sales support.
Each year Seqirus provides thousands of influenza vaccine doses to hundreds of GP practices, hospitals and private healthcare providers throughout the UK. Your job will be to help maintain satisfactory relationships with these customers by dealing effectively with their queries.  Through building greater insight into their needs, you’ll also leverage these relationships to promote the company’s products and generate additional sales.


What you’ll be doing

You’ll be based onsite at our facility in South Liverpool, one of the biggest biotechnology sites in Europe and a worldwide Centre of Excellence for egg-based influenza vaccine manufacturing.  As part of a busy team, you’ll be dealing with a wide cross-section of sales-related enquiries.   These might concern orders, deliveries or other miscellaneous requests.  They may involve collaboration with Technical or field-based sales colleagues, liaison with our third-party distributor or with other more specialist colleagues in our corporate office, acting as intermediary.  The emphasis will be on seeking to enhance relationships with customer contacts, whether they’re practice nurses, GP practice managers, hospital pharmacists or occupational healthcare buyers, using each interaction to understand their needs more fully to ensure we’re delivering Customer Service Excellence.

As you grow in confidence and develop greater product and therapy area knowledge, we’ll also ask you to take a more active role in sales activities.  Collaborating closely with the National Sales Manager, you’ll be assigned existing accounts and, through proactive calling, you’ll be encouraged to develop these further.  Equipped with full training (including support towards ABPI certification if you don’t have this already), you’ll be tasked with educating customer contacts on our seasonal influenza vaccine proposition, familiarising them with details of new products and offers and using these techniques and the rapport you’ve established to generate additional orders.

Alongside these activities, you’ll also play an important administrative support role, assisting with order input, creating and maintaining accounts on our supply chain and CRM systems and ensuring compliance with our various business processes.


What expertise / work-related skills and experience do I need?

This job would particularly suit someone who is eager to develop a career in pharmaceutical sales or, alternatively, someone who already has experience in field-based pharmaceutical sales and is now seeking a job with greater structure and stability.

Educated to ‘A’ level, ideally in at least one scientific subject, you’ll have exposure in a front-line role dealing with customers by phone.  Previous exposure to using a Sales Order Management (ideally SAP) system would be great; you’ll certainly be familiar with MS Office applications, with particular strengths in Word and Excel.

If you’ve already passed the ABPI Medical Representatives Exam that’s great. If you haven’t, you’ll need to be prepared to take this within the first year; we’ll support you in preparing for this.

If you have aspirations to progress into a field-based sales role, you’ll also need to possess (or be prepared to pass the tests to secure) a UK Driving Licence.  


What personal attributes/key behaviours will I need to demonstrate?

You can expect it to be a busy job so you’ll need to be very well organised and proactive, not only in reaching out to customers, but also in prioritising your workload and managing your schedule.  You’ll underpin this with very sound admin skills, the ability to work efficiently and accurately in a way that maintains compliance with our own internal controls and with external codes of practice.

Over and above this, it will be your attitude and energy levels which set you apart.  Dedicated to delighting our customers, you’ll be willing to ‘go the extra mile’ to ensure their needs are not just met but, where possible, exceeded.  You’ll be a clear and confident communicator – on the phone and via email.  If you’re not an expert in the subject matter we can teach you but you’ll need the capacity to understand occasionally complex technical information and the commitment to keep up to date with developments.
