We are in the process of accelerating and expanding the capability of our online channel having recently launched a new, improved and multi-branded online website. We are now undertaking an activity to transform the architecture to one that is “always on” evolving the technology, architecture, processes and tooling. 

Part of this vision will be to create an AO Cloud Platform Technical Service function to design, implement and support the cloud platform, ensuring that they align to the “always on” vision and DevOps culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implementing and supporting Cloud based platforms with respective filed.
  • Supporting incident management and problem management for respective area in a DevOps culture.
  • Maintaining a detailed architectural understanding of the platform technologies
  • Working with the business site owner on optimisation initiatives
  • Ensuring Monitoring of end to end stack
  • Automation of repeatable activities
  • Development and maintaining Infrastructure as code

Required experience:

  • BA degree in design related subject, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience of distributed or highly available cloud platforms
  • 5 years + Experience working on high traffic cloud platforms
  • Experience working with multi-faceted project teams
  • Experience working in an agile development environment
  • Working with a mature DevOps methodology, processes and tooling
  • Deep understanding of cloud technologies, such as IaaS, PaaS, Networking, Storage, Security, Global Traffic Management, Database and other emerging technologies


Technical skills:

  • Architectural understanding of highly available cloud based web methodologies (Microservices)
  • Redhat OS and automation (Infrastructure as code)
  • Content Delivery Networks
  • Cloud based storage platforms
  • Database technologies (Cassandra, Oracle)
  • Global Traffic Management design principles (Akamai preferred)
  • Containers application technology – (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • CI/CD pipeline experience (Ansible/Jenkins)
  • Experience with scripting, and configuration automation (Ansible, Jenkins)
  • Networking expertise and design of cloud based platforms
  • Collaboration and development tools, such as Atlassian suite, version control systems like Git


Business skills:

  • Experience working with an entire delivery team, including; BAs, business stakeholders to all levels, UX architects, developers (on/off shore) and test
  • Stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities
  • Shipping / Logistics Industry knowledge an advantage
