Functional / Team description

This role works within a Liquid Chemical Packaging facility and reports a senior production manager. The position represents a management development opportunity and the successful candidate will be responsible for providing line management and upskilling to a team of production operators. The role is the key interface between the planning department and the production facility/shop floor.

About This Job

The successful candidate will be expected to:
  • Manage activities in compliance with site, company and regulatory requirements, e.g. SI’s, HSE policy and standards, COMAH (Health and Safety Executive), PPC (SEPA)
  • Conduct close planning liaison and daily production scheduling within a dynamic environment
  • Lead, manage, coach and develop the team whilst delivering key business driven targets
  • Monitor Operational performance, initiate action as necessary to maintain/improve standards
  • Investigate and solve technical problems, identifying opportunities for improvement
Essential Knowledge & Experience
  • Experience in plant operations
  • Completion of CI projects within the manufacturing environment
  • HSE procedures & good practice
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office packages
  • Experience of Continual Improvement techniques
  • Experienced in Lean manufacturing activities and implementations
  • Experience of leading a team
Preferred Knowledge & Experience
  • Experience of bulk liquid filling/bottling industry
  • Job holders are likely to be qualified to a HNC level or equivalent in a technical discipline OR
  • Manufacturing experience within a chemical environment
Important Additional Information
  • The job holder will be required to work flexibly to respond to the demands of supporting a 24/7 plant. This will involve some phone calls at evenings/weekends and the requirement to be part of the plant management cover team who provide either on site or telephone support outside normal day hours
