About This Job
Accountable for the exploration, development, management, and effective implementation of advanced data-driven / computational methods and processes within the Seeds Development organization, to support breeding, trait development, trait introgression and product selection and placement.

·         Create and drive vision, strategy, priorities, and actions for Syngenta Seeds Development to achieve and maintain leadership in data-driven decision enabling development and commercial launch success of superior seeds products

·         Ensure alignment, support and engagement across Seeds R&D for the vision and strategy

  • Maintain effective connection with corporate digitalization efforts in Syngenta, and related Computational Science programs in R&D and commercial
  • Represent Syngenta in relevant external events to support the awareness of Syngenta as the leader in this space

·         Maintain external connections and collaborations with leading computational scientists, for the exploration of advanced computational methods

  • Lead the selection of the areas of focus in computational science for the defined areas of seeds development
  • Recruit and develop talent within the Quantitative Breeding department
  • Accountable that the computational scientists within Seeds Development have industry-leading technical competence
  • Accountable to provide the support required for effective adoption of the computational techniques and tools in Seeds Development
  • In collaboration with the Education and Training department, develop the technical training offerings and curricula in support of effective implementation of quantitative methods
  • Contribute to the definition of competency requirements for scientists in Seeds Development
  • Active member of Seeds Developmen Leadership Team


  • Head Analyst may work from locations in US- North Carolina or Minnesota; or in Europe, London, or Paris

Essential Skills & Knowledge

  • Principles of technical leadership and development
  • Ability to build, motivate and lead a highly innovative team
  • Ability to work effectively across disciplines within a matrix environment spread across geographies and cultures
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, networking and influencing skills
  • PhD preferred in applied mathematics, statistics, modeling or related disciplines
  • 10 years of experience in applied data science, mathematics, statistics, functional management, process implementation
  • 5 years of experience in a management capacity.
  • Technical knowledge in applied mathematics, statistics, modeling and artificial intelligence
  • Technical knowledge in agronomy, genetics and breeding
